Who is the qualification for?

The qualification is aimed at candidates who are responsible for developing and applying health and safety procedures and planning in a strategic manner. The candidates must be in a healthy and safety managerial role to be considered for this qualification.  You are likely to be a senior health and safety manager or consultant.

What does the qualification cover?
This qualification covers a broad range of subject areas in which strategic managers are involved with and will allow candidates to develop and demonstrate the skills.

• Safety Culture, Sustainability and the global effect on performance 

• Digital technologies and Incident Investigation 

• Development as a Strategic Manager 

• Establish business risk management process

Assessment

This qualification is competence-based, candidates must demonstrate their level of competence in line with the course standards/criteria as part of a portfolio. Assessments will take place with your allocated assessor to ensure that your evidence/responses are suitable. The qualification is internally assessed by an experienced and qualified IQA. Evidence can include: -

• work product including spreadsheets and worked examples of policies, assignments, projects, reports etc

• observation report by assessor

• professional discussion 

• witness testimony 

• verbal and written questioning 

• Recognition of Prior Learning

You will have regular contact with your assessor via Email ,Phone  WhatsApp or Zoom/Skype to enable a smooth progression to completion of your qualification.

What level is this NVQ qualification?

This NVQ is equivalent to a Master’s degree.

Membership

The NVQ level 7 Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety Management exceeds the requirement for Graduate Membership (GradIOSH).  Once your IPD is completed you will be eligible for Chartered Membership (CMIOSH).  On completion you can use this to progress to a Health and safety MSc.
